Zulkifli: Why was Karpal let off?

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP national chairman Karpal Singh should have been sacked from the party and Pakatan Rakyat coalition long time ago for his hard-hitting statement against opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

In his latest blog posting yesterday, Kulim Bandar Baru member of parliament Zulkifli Noordin, who was recently sacked from PKR, said it was surprising that the DAP stalwart could freely criticise PKR and Pakatan Rakyat leadership without facing any disciplinary action.

"Before this, (Bayan Baru MP) Datuk Seri Zahrain Hashim and (Nibong Tebal MP) Tan Tee Beng had to face disciplinary action for criticising Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng leadership.

"I was even sacked. If our statements were to be compared with Karpal's rude remark, he should have been sacked from DAP and Pakatan Rakyat a long time ago!" Zulkifli wrote at www.zul4kulim.-blogspot.com.

Commenting on another blog posting by PKR Wangsa Maju MP Wee Choo Keong, who questioned Karpal's conflicting statements against Anwar, Zulkifli insinuated of double standards in PKR and Pakatan.

Wee had said that Karpal should declare that he has repented and apologise to Anwar for calling the latter to step down as the opposition leader last year.

However recently the DAP leader had supported Anwar's role in the loose coalition, saying that Anwar continues to command the confidence of opposition MPs.

Zulkifli, who was booted out from PKR for lodging a police report against Pas MP Khalid Samad, questioned whether Pakatan practised double standards.

"I am confident that the rakyat is mature enough to see the coalition's cheap political ploy. I believe the rakyat is sick of this and will punish them in the next election.

"YB Karpal, you are lucky not to be sacked. But wait for the moment when you will be seen as a trouble maker by the little pharaohs, then you will know where you stand," he said.

The syariah lawyer, who is the lead counsel in Anwar's qazaf (false accusation) case against Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan, also posted letters of withdrawal from the case on his blog, stating that he was "not ready" to be Anwar's counsel in the sodomy related case.

He was supposed to be present at the Kuala Lumpur syariah court today for the proceedings.

Si Nuar, tang mahkamah sivil, nai cuak orang dok asyik tangguh-tangguh. Bila tang kazaf pula, marah pulak dia bila ditangguh. Nak cepat pula bicara.

Samalah dengan kapal karam ni. Dulu suruh orang bertaubat. Kini dia pun sebat sama!
